Drip drip drop...

We'll today i've donned my 'not so' happy face...

I've heard of April Showers (and i love watching the rain) but really? March was happy, glowing and full of the joys of Springtime, April so far is...well, rubbish, i suggest it tried again. This weather atleast is giving me a break from the watering of my new Herb Patch (i'm totally in LOVE with it) My Mommy dearest has a very vintage metal tub, i think it was a bath at some point?! It's a great size and after a brief suggestion of a re-home she very kindly agreed to let me remove it from storage, dust it down and i am now the very proud owner of my own mini herb garden (in-a-bath).
Seven seed packets and a couple of bags of compost later, voila. I must admit that the novility of hauling myself down the garden at around 7pm in an evening to water them is kind of waryng off slightly now and, as of yet (planting took place last week) no herbs are visable which is somewhat disapointing to my oh-so-impatient self. I'll add some pictures once iv'e been outside...when it's stopped raining that is...

As the weather has been so awful the park visit which Miss Edie and i had planned for yesterday was put on the back burner, sad but true. Our local park is beside a beautiful lake and now Spring has sprung the swans and ducks are back, unfortunatly the slightly stale bread was binned and the crayons came out instead, Edie mused over her colours and which one to attempt to scrawl on our coffee table with next! whilst i mused over other things.

For a while now i've been looking for a nitty gritty time consuming crochet project, something with a productive ending. I think stuffed animals have been done to the death and now Daisy is complete (with her new weaved wig and extra stuffing) so i've opted for a blanket instead, as things are a little chilly still i've picked nice bright, warm spring colours which will sit in with Little Edie's bedroom once complete. I've opted for something like this

[raspberry, wam pink, baby pink, cream, white, peppermint]

It will be a granny square with varied sizes (rows) of colour which will be random. Size will be what i make it, who knows, providing its a good snuggle blanket i don't really care. Probably a 4mm hook. This is the general idea but with a dark pink too.

Easter Bunnies

Are we all feeling the oh so heavy dark cloud of the post Easter chocolate rush come down, i shall atleast ponder the thought of jogging today...perhaps. So, This year Little Miss Edie has recieved a grand total of FIVE Easter Eggs, she is already growing rapidly out of 12-18month clothing so i'm thinking these eggs may need to be stretched out...mummy style :)

We took a little trip on Good Friday, it was my Mummy's 60th Birthday so we packed ourselves into the car and headed off to an Easter Egg hunt at our local farm, chickens, calfs, bunnies galore.

After hosing down the wellies we trotted off to a local pub for a well deserved lunch

Daisy Doll

DAISY DOLL

I LOVE dolls, i can't deny it.

I've always been a girly girl, pink, fluff and feathers, dress up and yet more pink. When i was very little my sister and i used to dress up our dolls in clothing our Mum had saved which belonged to us when we were babies, nostalgia moment there...

Edie is a little more 'robust' she must take after Mr JBS for that, the pair of them roll around on the floor whilst she giggles wildly and then they rull around on the grass kicking footballs and getting dirty...additions to my washing pile added frequently, which is fine. As the weather has been so incredibly amazing the last week it's been so nice to see them 'let loose' together, we have been on more trips to the park and lake than i can count and i think the local duck population must be sat proudly on their nests with little stuffed duck bellies. So, here's hoping Daisy doesn't need her outfit changing to a football kit before the week is out.

I will attempt to not over spam this post with photographs, although i took a few. Daisy found herself modeling against my beautiful 'off white' vintage dressing table, iloveitiloveitiloveit

Ok, Daisy. I found a beautiful pattern for Miss Daisy Doll, which is by SugarNCream - Which you can find here (sign up free) There are other outfits and styles are also available for this doll and you can customise them yourself.

:: EDIT ::
Just to add, the 'necklace' is actually Edie's Amber Teething Anklet, unfortunatly it no longer fits Edie and i keep it in the draw of my dressing table, it is just for the picture, not for little hands :)

As i was low on brown low (fail) Daisy ended up being a blonde, she makes a good blonde though i think, her leggings and t-shirt are complete with her body and then you can make accessories to match

(above, below) This is Daisy's wardrobe so far, a jacket pattern and skirt pattern are available on SugarNCream

Although the doll shown on SugarNCream has shoes i couldnt find the pattern so i made copies of the instructions for her legs (upto the ankle) and added laces so they can be removed.

Were off to the park shortly, complete with Daddy, football and Daisy...Hope Daisy is doesn attempt any knee slides!

Rutland Water

So Sunday morning arrives, the sun is beaming through the curtains and the not so faint sound of 'the call of Edie' can be heard from her bedroom, so what to do? We run through a few suggestions, gardening? no, visiting relatives? no... the suggestion agreed upon, a trip to Rutland Water.

I've never been to Rutland Water before and as the weather is so great we pack up the car, pack up the baby and pack up a picnic too...

I LOVE daffodils...can you tell its Spring?

Dear Hubbys not so wised suggestion of the day, lets go and hire a boat....
Erm, No! Let's sit on dry land and WATCH the boats

I think we must have walked around 5 miles, the scenery was incredible

The levels seemed pretty low (considering its March!) We were able to walk along the water front part of the way

The locals, they favoured my cheese salad sandwich over hubbys tuna and chilli

A Basket Full Of Mother's Day Goodies

My weekend was really good, Saturday we ventured off for a family meal (Mr's side) and Sunday i was treated to a lie-in, as a mother to a one year old these are very rare occurances so this was happily accepted, i also recieved a lovely bunch of flowers

So pretty, they are currently sat on my equally pretty new dressing table.

After munching my brekkie in bed (what i could get back from Edie anyway) we trooped off to visit my Mom, turns out that she had a little Mothers Day gift for me too

How AMAZING is this lovely basket, apparently it belonged to my Grandma (Mom's Mom) and she had found it stored away at the weekend...seen it and thought of me.

Awww *sniff*

So what to do with a basket like this...

It would be rude not too, right?

Yes, i am now the very proud owner of another stunning basket for stowing away the crochet essentials, it has pride of place in my living room.

What a great weekend
